Our Story

In the midst of AI uncertainty, demanding workflows, and expensive software contracts, Developing Together Technologies, LLC, or Devttech for short, was founded on the notion:

"There has to be a better way."

A social scientist navigating a complex policy and ethics landscape and a computational physicist operating on the cutting edge of technology brought their skillsets together to solve the problem of ethical, private, and affordable automation for organizations in the public sector.

Public and nonprofit organizations provide vital services to the community and beyond, but the public sector often operates behind private industry when it comes to technological advancements and efficient workflows. Employees of the public sector are often underpaid, overworked, and unaware of ways in which their work can be ethically optimized. Insufficient capacity and resources can also prevent public and nonprofit organizations from having access to expensive software that could alleviate stress from tedious administrative jobs. There is also growing uncertainty, fear, ethical concerns and disdain toward AI usage in the workplace.

Developing Together bridges the technological knowledge gap between social science and computer science while providing public sector organizations with software tools that ease labor strains. Social scientists, namely those working in the public sector with backgrounds in political science, social work, communication, public administration and beyond, have little to no expertise in technology or computer science principles such as machine learning, coding, and data security. Meanwhile, public-sector work often requires large-scale data analysis, research, and digital-media creation that could be optimized by simple lines of code. Developing Together brings social scientists to the table along with software experts that can listen, learn and understand the technological needs of public institutions that would make day-to-day operations more effective, safe and ethical without replacing vital humanists with AI.

Our Values

Transparency/Accountability

AI use is controversial, and we want to ensure benevolent use through AI literacy, knowledge-sharing and transparency.

Autonomy

We want to ensure organizations do not sacrifice their data security by opting in to third party softwares to meet their needs and automate their workflows. We encourage organizations to take full control over how their data is collected, used and translated by providing them the tools to have custom, in-house software.

Access/Affordability

All organizations have the ability to be on the forefront of advancing technology without sacrificing capacity or resources. Affordability is necessary.

Efficiency

Automating mundane tasks can allow organizations to spend time on what really matters — building relationships, on the ground operations, and program implementation.

Togetherness

Social scientists, humanists, engineers and computer scientists should not work in silos. To move the needle forward it is vital to work with organizations to assess their needs and provide them with the best tools. This is not something we build for you, we want to build this with you.
